From Duty to Concealment: The Evolution of Springfield’s Echelon Series
Since its release in late 2023, the Echelon has sold exceptionally well, gaining a substantial following. Even some long-time Springfield detractors have, albeit quietly, admitted that the Echelon, with its new V.I.S. optics mounting system, is quite impressive.
Springfield Armory ECHELON Takes Point!
Springfield’s got a whole new force multiplier called the Echelon, and it’s definitely taking point. If an XD, Hellcat, and SIG 320 had the world’s weirdest three-way and had a baby, this would be a result. There are lots of spiffy new bells and whistles, but you can clearly see the heritage of the pistol underneath.
SPRINGFIELD ARMORY PRODIGY 1911 DOUBLE STACK
The Springfield Armory Prodigy is a modular, wide body, double stack ultra capacity 1911 pistol. Colloquially known as a 2011 style pistol. The original patents for this modular style 1911 pistol were granted back in 1994. Ironic since that was the start of the 94 Assault Weapons Ban. Think about it..what a time to develop and release an ultra capacity pistol. None the less, the 2011 race gun style pistols from companies like STI, SVI etc, dominated the USPSA/IPSC shooting games
XDM Elite 10mm
Today, the Springfield Armory XDM Elite series gets an upgrade and enters the realm of LARGE FRAME pistols with its new compact. Springfield’s done it in 10mm— one of the world’s most powerful duty pistol cartridges available!
Langdon Tactical-Tuned Springfield XD-E Pistol
The base Springfield Armory XDE is a fantastic pistol that is basically alone in its class. The single stack XDE is a hammer-fired double action/single action pistol. Being a single stack firearm means that compared to other DA/SA pistols this pistol is thin thin thin.
Springfield Armory RDP Hellcat
More than just a grip zone upgrade, the Hellcat RDP Rapid Defense Package is not necessarily a version 2 Hellcat. But more like a special configuration that is meant to expand the Hellcat’s carry capability. And yes you can sprinkle in some upgrades for good measure ending up with a kitty that has more attitude.
THE HELLCAT GOES PRO!
The Hellcat micro family grows today with the scaled-up Hellcat Pro. At this size Springfield Armory is directly taking on pistols like the Glock 19 and the SIG Sauer 365XL. At one time the Glock 19 was the most popular handgun sold in America, striking the “perfect” balance of size, capacity, and shootability. Like everything else, time catches up with design and it is almost laughable that we used to consider a gun the size of a Glock 19 concealable. While the length and height is pretty damn close with a Glock 19
SPRINGFIELD ARMORY HELLION
All of the above is by way of explaining that the Hellion is not technically a new rifle. Think of this as at least the 3rd version of the VHS rifle. So instead of an unknown the platform, the Hellion has a pedigree and a lineage that goes back 1992 and the Croatian War of Independence. Of course, it is used by the Croatian military and police, but it has also been used in the Global War on Terror as the active use by military and police units from countries like Albania, Bosnia, Herzegovina and more.
Springfield Armory XDS 4.0
This year Springfield & HS Produkt are releasing an XDS with a 4 inch barrel. What we can gather is that the new pistol will first be released in 9mm. Remember that the original XDS was a 45acp.
Springfield Armory Releases XDS Mod.2
XDS Mod.2: There is more than meets the eye in this version two of a now classic carry piece.
