DO NOT USE A DREMEL TOOL TO REMOVE YOUR SIGHTS
DIY gone too far! this poor guy took the online experts advice and used a Dremel tool to remove his Springfield XD sights. Chios ensued.
Get a Bigger Hammer - Gunsmith
It is never a good idea to get a bigger hammer when doing any gunsmithing!
BEWARE OF THE INEXPERIENCED
Not all gunsmiths have the same level of experience or work ethic. This customer had a local gunsmith install his brand new set of XS 24/7 Big Dot sights on his brand new Stainless Steel Springfield Armory XD. The smith made several errors that made for a nasty final product.
SPOT THE SHODDY WORK
The smith installed the sights and returned the pistol to the owner and took the payment for the job. Later on in the day the XD owner took the gun out to look at his brand new sights and to his horror finally noticed the damage to the slide.
“Gunsmith” Strikes Again
The sights are indeed off center, but the worst part is that the gunsmith mangled the sights when installing them. Supposedly the sights were installed using a sight pusher so its weird that the tab would be deformed as it is.
USE EPOXY TO GLUE YOUR SIGHTS IN PLACE?
This person's quick fix was to epoxy the loose sight in place and hope that it would not move under recoil. While this seems like a good idea, things can go wrong and they did.
